Overview:
The CA Foundation Course is the initial level of the CA Program, designed to set you on the path to becoming a Chartered Accountant. During this stage, you will gain knowledge in accounting principles, business laws, mathematics, and economics. The exams for CA Foundation are conducted thrice a year by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), in May and November.
Students who have appeared or completed their Class 12th examinations are eligible to register for the CA Foundation course. If you fulfill this criterion, you can take a significant step towards your CA journey.
Once you meet all the eligibility requirements, you can register for the CA Foundation course. After registration, you will have approximately four months to prepare and study the syllabus before attempting the exams.

CA Foundation Exam Pattern 2024
Understanding the exam pattern of the CA Foundation is crucial for effective exam preparation. CA Foundation Registration 2024-25
CA Foundation Eligibility Criteria for Registration in 2024-25
The government of India has granted approval to the institute for amending regulations 25E, 25F, and 28F of the Chartered Accountants Regulations, 1988. As a result, candidates can now provisionally enroll in the ICAI Foundation course after passing their Class X examinations.
Provisional Registration:
After successfully passing the secondary school examination (Class X) or equivalent matriculation exams, such as Madhyamik Pariksha conducted by a recognized examining body in India, you become eligible for admission to the CA Foundation course. Moreover, any examination recognized by the Central Government (CG) or the State Government (SG) as equivalent to the 10th Class examination for Higher Secondary Education (HSC) will also qualify you for admission.
Regular Registration:
Successful completion of the Class XII examination qualifies you to enroll with ICAI as a regular candidate for the CA Foundation course. Once you have appeared in the Class XII examination, you can proceed to take the CA foundation examination.
Graduate students have the advantage of being eligible for direct admission to the CA Intermediate course. This means that they can skip the CA Foundation examination and proceed directly to the Intermediate level.

What is the Eligibility for the CA Foundation Course?
As per the CA Foundation eligibility criteria, students who have successfully cleared their Class 12 examination conducted by a recognized board or approved by the Central Government are eligible to register for the CA Foundation course.
However, considering the delay in the declaration of Class 12th results by Central and State Boards, ICAI has made certain modifications to the eligibility criteria. Now, students who have not yet received their Class 12 exam results can provisionally register for the CA Foundation course. With this new provision, students can preliminarily enroll in the CA Foundation course after passing their Class 10 examinations. However, it is important to note that this provisional admission will only be confirmed and regularized once the candidate clears the Class 12 examinations.
For those who hold a graduate or post-graduate degree and aspire to become a CA, they have the option to directly register for the CA Intermediate exam through the Direct Entry System. This exempts them from the requirement to appear for the CA Foundation Exam.

CA Foundation Course Fees
The CA Foundation Course fee for Indian students is Rs. 10,900, and for foreign students, it is $1065. However, please note that the fee is not to be paid as a one-time payment.
During the registration process, Indian students are required to pay Rs. 9000 along with Rs. 200 for the foundation prospectus. Additionally, it is recommended to subscribe to the student's journal to stay updated with the latest information. When filing the foundation exam form, an additional fee of Rs. 1500 needs to be paid.
For foreign students, the registration fee is $700, and an additional $20 is charged for the foundation prospectus. The exam form fee for foreign students is $325.

CA Foundation Exam Pattern and Papers
To excel in the CA Foundation exams, it is crucial to familiarize yourself with the course content, paper pattern, and marking scheme. The first two papers, namely accounting and law, consist of subjective questions involving theory and practical application. On the other hand, the latter two papers, mathematics and economics, are objective-based with multiple-choice questions (MCQs). As per the revised scheme, there will be a negative marking of 0.25 for incorrect answers in the objective papers.
ICAI has provided a comprehensive and updated CA Foundation Exam Pattern, including marks allocation and weightage distribution for all four subjects. It is highly recommended to refer to the latest Exam Pattern before commencing your CA Foundation preparations.

CA Foundation Admit Card
Admit cards are essential for gaining entry to the examination hall during the CA Foundation exams. Typically, ICAI releases the admit cards 14 days before the scheduled exams. However, it is important to note that physical or offline distribution of admit cards has been discontinued. Instead, candidates can now download the CA Foundation admit card online directly from the ICAI website.
To ensure a smooth process, it is advisable to print the admit card at least 10 days before the exam date, avoiding any last-minute rush. Candidates are allowed to download the admit card up to three times, so it is recommended to keep 3-4 photocopies of the admit card for backup. In case of any discrepancies, such as errors in Center/Medium information resulting from incorrect details submitted during the application process, candidates have the opportunity to rectify the error after downloading the admit card.
Correction Window for the CA Foundation
The ICAI offers two correction windows for students who need to make changes to their exam forms. In the first window, there is no fee required for corrections. However, in the second correction window, students must pay a correction fee of Rs. 1000/- per application.
The Free Window Facility allows students to change their Center/Medium within one week after the last date of submitting the Examination form. On the other hand, the Correction Window Facility (with fees) permits students to make changes to their Center/Medium by paying Rs. 1000/- per application. Generally, this correction window remains open until one week before the exam. It's important to note that requests made less than 7 days before the exam will not be entertained by the ICAI under any circumstances.
CA Foundation Results
The CA Foundation exam results will be declared approximately two months after the conclusion of the exams. To check your CA Foundation Result for June 2024, you can visit the ICAI website or receive it through SMS/Email.
